REN+HOMES highlights project progress and innovative technologies at general assembly in Thessaloniki

On 7 and 8 November 2023, REN+HOMES’ partners met for their first general assembly at the Centre for Research and Technology, Hellas (CERTH) in Thessaloniki, Greece.

The meeting provided an overview of the project’s remarkable advancements in the various work packages and in the four demo sites, where REN+HOMES’ technologies will be actively implemented.

The partners discussed the progress of their work and shared insights and experiences to collaborate on their common goal: revolutionize the housing industry by introducing energy-efficient building designs. The four demonstration sites located in Austria, Spain, Estonia, and Romania are already introducing cutting-edge technical solutions suitable for both new constructions and building renovations.

The general assembly at CERTH allowed attendees to engage with project partners and gain a deeper understanding of the practical applications of the innovations developed within REN+HOMES. The consortium is also engaged in the development of business models that integrate cost-effective demand response mechanisms, and the establishment of energy communities.

In the afternoon of the first day of the meeting, the consortium had the opportunity to visit CERTH’s smart home building, which serves as a rapid prototyping and innovative technology showcase facility designed to mimic a real residential structure. Here, occupants can immerse themselves in real-life scenarios while exploring a range of cutting-edge smart IoT-based technologies, including Energy, Health, Big Data, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) services. On the second day of the meeting, the focus shifted to the REN+HOMES software technologies workshop.

The next general assembly will take place on 3 and 4 April 2024 in Innsbruck, Austria, on the occasion of the 27th International Passive House Conference (5 and 6 April). Don’t miss it!
