REN+HOMES joins European campaign for INWED 2026 celebrating women in engineering

The initiative highlights inspiring stories from women in engineering across sectors and promotes diversity, inclusion and future talent in STEM.

For International Women in Engineering Day (INWED 2026), several European-funded projects coordinated by ICONS Innovation Strategies are joining forces in a social media campaign highlighting the contribution of women engineers and researchers across Europe.
Among the participating initiatives is REN+HOMES, which will contribute by showcasing the voices and experiences of women involved in the project. Many of these contributors work in energy, sustainable buildings, and innovation, reflecting the project’s strong commitment to diversity and inclusion in engineering.

The campaign will launch on 23 June 2026 using the hashtags #EUWomenEngineers and #INWED2026. Participating projects across sectors such as mobility, energy systems, manufacturing, batteries, and the built environment will share short video and visual messages answering a common question: “How would you encourage other women to take up a career in engineering?”.

By sharing personal stories, the initiative aims to inspire future generations and promote greater visibility for women in STEM. It also highlights the importance of diversity as a driver of innovation and progress in addressing Europe’s climate, industrial and societal challenges.
Despite progress, women remain underrepresented in engineering roles across Europe, reinforcing the need for initiatives that support role models, inclusion, and equal opportunities in technical careers.
