Watch the 1st REN+HOMES webinar and explore the future of positive energy buildings and districts
The REN+HOMES project is pleased to share the successful completion of its first webinar, “Positive energy buildings: from foundation to district”, which explored how innovation in the built environment can drive the transition toward sustainable, energy-positive communities.
Organised and moderated by ICONS, the event featured five expert speakers: Margherita Fabbri and Alessio Pacchiana from RINA, Despina Antypa and Stravos Koltsios from the Centre of Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), and Cecilia Sanz Montalvillo, Project Coordinator of the NEUTRALPATH project.
The session opened with an introduction to REN+HOMES and its main challenges by Margherita Fabbri, followed by Alessio Pacchiana, who presented an overview of Positive Energy Buildings (PEBs) — including their state of the art, methodologies, and benefits.
Despina Antypa then shared insights on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in buildings, presenting the VERIFY software tool: a virtual integrated platform for LCA developed by CERTH/CPERI, applicable to both buildings (VERIFY-B) and districts (VERIFY-D).
Stravos Koltsios complemented this with a focus on energy assessments and certification processes.
The webinar also featured Cecilia Sanz Montalvillo, who introduced the NEUTRALPATH project. Her contribution highlighted how positive energy districts and cities can pave the way toward climate-neutral urban environments, in synergy with the goals of REN+HOMES.
